For last year’s Grand Marshal we honored a trio who have each contributed to Fairfax and Marin County for many years: David Smadbeck, Iseult Jordan and Tera Ferguson. David has served our community in many capacities, including:
- President Fairfax Chamber of Commerce (4 yrs)
- President Marin Association of Realtors
- President Marin Women’s Council of Realtors
- Spirit of Marin Award 2014
- Realtor of the Year 2014 (Marin Association of Realtors)
- Rotary Club 2006-2016
- Project Coordinator for Rebuilding Marin
- Fairfax PARC Commission Member
In addition, all three Grand Marshals were the owners of the recently-closed, beloved Sleeping Lady, a restaurant and music venue for all ages, and supporter of the Fairfax Festival! Since 2008 they held a space for local and global music, including Youth Music Showcase events. The Sleeping Lady hosted many benefits for local and global non-profit organizations such as YES, Habitat for Humanity, Relief for Haiti, Global Youth Peace Summit, Sustainable Fairfax. It was the home for the Ukulele Session on Saturdays, the Irish Session on Sundays & Open Mic on Monday nights which was voted one of the best Open Mic’s in the Bay Area. It was also a driving force and featured venue for The Annual Fairfax Irish Music Festival.
As traditional for the last 39 years… Parade was announced by Pete Arrigoni and Geoff Bolt.
