Grand Marshal 2019

Grand Marshals for 2019 – GARRY AND AMORY GRAHAM

Garry and Amory have always been known as a team. They have
been “joined at the hip” for over 50 years and now are enjoying
their golden years surrounded by their loving and harmonious
family of four children, their spouses and five grandchildren and a
host of friends.
On October 17 1979 Amory and Garry and Garry’s two
brothers, Tucker and Jerry Spolter, purchased a 17,000 square foot
property in downtown Fairfax from the Celoni family, which they
renamed Tucker’s Tavern. In 1984 Garry and Amory purchased the property from his brothers and 19 BROADWAY NIGHTCLUB was born. Along with it came a legacy of live music every night which continues for over 35 years to this day. This is their gift to the town and to the fans and musicians, as they believe that music is the medicine for the soul and the elixir of life.
The club was also known for its daytime regulars forming their own social club under the leadership of partner Chris
McCarthy. They sold their interest in the club in July 2018.
Garry was cofounder of the renewed Fairfax Chamber of Commerce in 1995 which begin the original Fairfax Brewfest. He was also president of the chamber of commerce in 1999 and 2000 and his daughter Molly was executive director. In addition, Garry and Amory produced and cofounded the Fairfax Jazz Festival which ran from 1999 to 2004 which presented jazz in eight music venues and two outdoor venues over the course of the weekend.
Garry is a musician, singer, and entertainer and has been playing piano for over 65 years. He now leads THE 19 BROADWAY GOODTIME BAND which plays every 1st Sunday at the club from 6 to 8 PM and will be playing the fairfax Festival Redwood Stage on Sunday afternoon. The band plays music from the 30’s and 40’s. Rumor has it that Garry had to buy the club so he’s always have a gig…
Garry’s daytime gig was as a successful maritime trial lawyer attorney and Amory assisted in preparing for every one and never missed one. Before entering the University of California Law School Garry was a captain in the USMC and served as legal officer and company commander in charge of training new recruits how to become combat marines.
Garry and Amory live in the Town of Fairfax and they could write a book about hanging with the musicians and living above the club for many years. Their message to you is “ITS BEEN A BLAST! THANK YOU FAIRFAX!”
THANK YOU!! Garry and Amory!
